This illustrated map of Rome has been long-awaited, particularly by me. I lived in Italy a while ago and had been planning to publish this map since I started illustrating cities. Typically, the most common things are the hardest to represent—perhaps because they are too familiar or because you want to include everything. However, Rome has been sketched in my book for years.
Now, I'm happy and proud of the result—a map that highlights important aspects for me. It features my usual routes and includes elements that I wanted, even if not everyone might understand. That's the advantage of creating my own maps: I can include anything I want without worries. After all, this is an illustration, not a Google Maps search.
I wanted to capture the essence of Rome by illustrating its most significant landmarks like the Coliseum and the Pantheon. I also included other must-visit spots in the city. Additionally, I incorporated personal references—churches I lived near and cherished spots that hold a special place in my heart.
Rome is a bustling city with chaotic traffic, occasional cleanliness issues, and definite noise. However, it offers unique charms—hidden magical corners boasting delightful restaurants, warm-hearted locals, ancient cobblestone streets, and perhaps the finest coffee makers in the peninsula.
If you fall for Rome as deeply as I have, consider adorning your living room or any preferred spot with this print. It's a perfect way to preserve your cherished memories because Rome is undeniably one of those cities that captivate your heart, despite its inconveniences.
